Website: wiremasterelectricals.co.uk

Email: info@wiremasterelectricals.co.uk

Telephone: 07551 168103

Service area: Based in Crystal Palace, serving South East London, East London and surrounding areas.

Where a geographical business/contact address is required for contractual or legal purposes, the appropriate address will be provided on quotations, invoices or other relevant contractual documentation.

These Terms & Conditions are intended to keep arrangements clear, fair and straightforward for both the customer and Wire Master Electricals.

By accepting a quotation, confirming a booking, paying a deposit or part-payment, instructing us to proceed, or allowing work to commence, the customer agrees to these Terms & Conditions, subject always to their statutory consumer rights.

1. Quotations and Scope of Work

Quotations are prepared using the information available and the conditions reasonably apparent at the time.

A quotation covers only the work specifically described within it.

Any additional work requested by the customer, changes to the agreed specification, or unforeseen conditions discovered after work begins may result in additional charges.

Where reasonably practicable, significant additional chargeable work will be explained and agreed before proceeding.

Unless otherwise stated, a quotation may be subject to a stated validity period, after which prices may need to be reviewed.

2. Estimates and Fixed Quototations

Where a price is clearly described as a fixed quotation, Wire Master Electricals will carry out the agreed scope of work for that price, subject to any subsequently agreed variations or unforeseen conditions that could not reasonably have been identified beforehand.

Where a price is described as an estimate, it represents our reasonable assessment of the likely cost based on the information available at the time.

An estimate is not necessarily a guaranteed final price.

If circumstances arise that are likely to materially affect an estimated price, we will explain this to the customer as soon as reasonably practicable.

3. Quotation Acceptance

Any quotation issued by Wire Master Electricals should be read together with these Terms & Conditions and our payment terms.

By accepting a quotation by email, WhatsApp, text message, telephone, verbally, through an online booking, by paying a deposit or part-payment, or otherwise instructing us to commence work, the customer confirms that:

  • They have reviewed and accepted the quotation and scope of work.
  • They have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
  • They understand the applicable payment arrangements.
  • They have had an opportunity to ask questions before instructing us to proceed.
  • They understand that work outside the agreed quotation may be charged separately.

Acceptance of a quotation therefore constitutes acceptance of the associated Terms & Conditions and payment arrangements, subject always to applicable consumer law.

4. Authority to Instruct Work

The person instructing Wire Master Electricals confirms that they have the necessary authority to authorise work at the property.

Where a tenant, managing agent, family member, contractor or other third party is arranging work on behalf of the property owner or another responsible person, they should ensure that the appropriate authority has been obtained beforehand.

Unless another arrangement has been expressly agreed, the person instructing us to proceed will normally be regarded as responsible for payment.

5. Payment on Completion

Unless otherwise agreed beforehand, full payment is due immediately upon completion of the agreed works and presentation of the invoice.

Customers should ensure that they are in a position to make the required payment before instructing Wire Master Electricals to commence work.

Completion of the agreed work does not make payment optional or dependent upon when the customer chooses to release funds.

6. Deposits, Materials Payments and Part-Payments

Depending on the size, value, duration or nature of the work, Wire Master Electricals may require a:

  • Deposit
  • Advance payment
  • Materials payment
  • Stage payment
  • Part-payment during the work

Wire Master Electricals may also request a reasonable part-payment at its reasonable discretion, having regard to the value of materials supplied, labour already completed, duration of the work and costs already committed.

Any deposit or part-payment will form part of the total agreed price and will be deducted from the final balance.

The amount and timing of any such payment will be communicated clearly to the customer where applicable.

7. Larger and Multi-Stage Projects

For larger, higher-value or multi-day projects, payments may be divided into stages.

An agreed stage payment may become due once a particular stage of work has been reached, even though the entire project has not yet been completed.

Failure to make an agreed deposit, materials payment, part-payment or stage payment when due may result in work being paused or suspended until the account is brought up to date.

8. Additional and Variation Works

Additional work requested by the customer will normally be chargeable unless expressly agreed otherwise.

Additional work may also become necessary because of circumstances that could not reasonably have been identified before commencement.

Where reasonably practicable, Wire Master Electricals will explain the additional work and associated charges before proceeding.

9. Unforeseen Electrical Conditions

Electrical installations are not always fully accessible before work begins.

Additional defects may become apparent only after accessories are removed, circuits are tested, floorboards are lifted, walls are opened or existing wiring is exposed.

Examples may include:

  • Damaged or deteriorated cables
  • Borrowed neutrals
  • Inadequate earthing or bonding
  • Hidden junctions
  • Defective accessories
  • Unsafe previous alterations
  • Discontinuity of conductors
  • Incorrect connections
  • Inaccessible or concealed wiring
  • Other electrical defects that could not reasonably have been identified beforehand

Where significant additional work is required, the customer will be informed and, wherever reasonably practicable, approval will be obtained before additional chargeable work proceeds.

10. Making Good and Decoration

Unless expressly stated in the written quotation, the price for electrical work does not include plastering, filling, decorating, painting, carpentry, flooring repairs, tiling or any other specialist making-good or finishing work.

Where it is reasonably necessary to chase walls, drill holes, lift floorboards, remove access panels, cut openings or otherwise disturb existing finishes to install, inspect, test, repair or replace electrical wiring or equipment, the customer accepts that some disruption may be unavoidable.

Wire Master Electricals will always take reasonable care to minimise unnecessary damage and disturbance.

However, restoring walls, ceilings, floors, tiles, paintwork, wallpaper, woodwork or other finishes back to their original decorative condition is not included unless specifically quoted and agreed beforehand.

Any making good carried out by Wire Master Electricals will be limited to the extent specifically stated in the quotation.

Where specialist plastering, decorating, carpentry, tiling or other finishing work is required, this may need to be arranged separately by the customer or quoted as an additional service.

For the avoidance of doubt, completion of the electrical installation does not automatically include full cosmetic restoration of areas that had to be opened, chased, drilled, lifted, cut or otherwise disturbed to carry out the electrical work.

11. Access to the Property

Appointment Times and Arrival Window

Unless a specific arrival time has been expressly agreed with us, the start time shown on your booking is an estimated time of arrival (ETA). Please allow a two-hour arrival window from your booked start time. For example, an 8:00 am booking means we expect to arrive between 8:00 am and 10:00 am.

This window allows for traffic, travel between appointments and unforeseen delays on earlier jobs. Please ensure that someone is available to provide access throughout the arrival window.

We aim to arrive within this window. If we expect to arrive later, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible with an updated ETA and, where necessary, agree an alternative appointment.

The arrival window relates to when we arrive; it does not indicate how long the work will take.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that reasonable and safe access is available to the property and to the areas where work is required.

Where reasonably possible, furniture, personal belongings and other obstructions should be moved beforehand.

If work is materially delayed because suitable access has not been provided, reasonable additional labour or attendance charges may apply.

12. Parking and Other Charges

Where parking charges, permits, congestion charges, tolls or similar unavoidable costs are incurred specifically in connection with the customer's work, these may be added to the invoice unless already included in the quotation.

Customers are encouraged to advise us beforehand if parking arrangements or permits are available.

13. Materials and Electrical Accessories

Unless otherwise specifically stated in the quotation, electrical accessories supplied by Wire Master Electricals will be standard white-finish electrical accessories suitable for the installation and the work being carried out.

This may include, where applicable:

  • Standard white socket outlets
  • Standard white light switches
  • Standard white fused connection units
  • Standard white connection plates
  • Standard white blanking plates
  • Standard white electrical accessories of a similar nature

Where a particular brand, model, colour, finish, style or specification has not been expressly included in the quotation, Wire Master Electricals may supply a suitable good-quality standard white accessory appropriate for the installation.

Decorative, Premium and Specialist Accessories

If the customer requires accessories that are:

  • Chrome
  • Brushed steel
  • Brass
  • Black
  • Coloured
  • Decorative
  • Designer
  • Smart or Wi-Fi enabled
  • USB-equipped
  • Specialist
  • Premium specification

these requirements must be communicated and agreed before the relevant materials are ordered or installed.

Such products may result in an additional materials and/or labour charge depending upon the product selected and any additional installation requirements.

A quotation based on standard white accessories does not include an upgrade to decorative, premium, smart or specialist accessories at the same price unless expressly agreed beforehand.

Customer-Supplied Materials and Equipment

Customers may supply their own accessories, fittings, appliances or equipment where agreed with Wire Master Electricals.

However, Wire Master Electricals cannot accept responsibility for faults or problems inherent in customer-supplied products, including:

  • Manufacturer defects
  • Missing components or parts
  • Incorrect specifications
  • Incorrect dimensions
  • Incompatibility with the existing electrical installation
  • Poor product quality
  • Previously damaged equipment
  • Defective or faulty products

Where customer-supplied equipment is unsuitable, incomplete, defective or requires additional work beyond what was reasonably anticipated, additional labour, materials or attendance charges may apply.

Where a customer-supplied product cannot reasonably or safely be installed, Wire Master Electricals reserves the right not to install it and will explain the reason to the customer.

Any additional visits required because a customer-supplied item is faulty, incomplete, unsuitable, incorrectly specified or unavailable may also be chargeable.

Wire Master Electricals remains responsible for the quality and safety of its own workmanship.

Nothing in this section excludes or restricts the customer's statutory consumer rights.

14. Site Hazards and Unsafe Conditions

Customers should notify Wire Master Electricals of any known hazards at the property that may affect the safe performance of the work.

These may include:

  • Known or suspected asbestos-containing materials
  • Structural instability
  • Water ingress or flooding
  • Vermin or pest infestation
  • Unsafe access areas
  • Hazardous substances
  • Other conditions that may present a risk to health or safety

Where an unexpected hazard is discovered, Wire Master Electricals reserves the right to stop or postpone the affected work until it can be carried out safely.

Any additional specialist work or attendance required as a result may be separately chargeable where appropriate.

15. Electrical Safety

Wire Master Electricals will not knowingly carry out work that would leave an electrical installation in an unsafe condition or require applicable electrical safety requirements to be disregarded.

Where inspection or testing identifies a safety concern, the findings will be explained to the customer and appropriate remedial action may be recommended.

Where an immediately unsafe condition is identified, reasonable steps may need to be taken to make the installation safe.

16. Testing, Certification and Documentation

Where certification, test results, reports or other electrical documentation form part of the agreed work, these will be provided where applicable following completion of the relevant inspection, testing and administrative requirements.

Certificates and reports relate only to the scope of work or installation covered by that particular inspection, test or certificate.

Certification does not automatically confirm the condition of parts of an installation that were outside the agreed scope of work.

17. Cancellations and Rescheduling

We understand that plans sometimes change.

Customers should provide as much notice as reasonably possible if they need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.

Where an appointment is cancelled at very short notice, after specially ordered materials have been purchased, or after Wire Master Electricals has already travelled to the property, a reasonable cancellation, attendance or materials charge may apply where lawful and appropriate.

Any applicable statutory cancellation rights remain unaffected.

18. Consumer Cancellation Rights

Where a contract is agreed at the customer's home, by telephone, online, by email, WhatsApp or by another distance or off-premises method, the customer may have a statutory right to cancel the contract within 14 days, where applicable under UK consumer law.

Where that statutory cancellation right applies, the customer will be provided with the relevant information concerning their right to cancel.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes or restricts any statutory cancellation right available to the customer.

19. Customer Request to Start Work During a Cancellation Period

Where a customer has a statutory cancellation period but wishes Wire Master Electricals to begin providing services before that period has expired, the customer may be asked to give an express request for the work to begin early.

By expressly requesting that work begins during an applicable cancellation period, the customer understands that, where permitted by law, they may be required to pay a reasonable amount for services properly supplied before they exercise a right to cancel.

Where the service has been fully performed following the customer's express request and the relevant legal requirements have been satisfied, statutory cancellation rights may be affected in accordance with applicable consumer law.

20. Urgent and Emergency Work

Where a customer specifically requests urgent electrical work, particularly work required to address an immediate safety concern or restore an essential service, Wire Master Electricals may begin work as soon as reasonably practicable at the customer's request.

The customer remains responsible for payment for work properly carried out and materials supplied.

Any statutory rights applicable to urgent or emergency work remain unaffected.

21. Delays Outside Our Reasonable Control

Occasionally work may be delayed by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including:

  • Material shortages or delayed deliveries
  • Unexpected electrical defects
  • Restricted access
  • Adverse site conditions
  • Illness
  • Supplier problems
  • Severe weather
  • Other unforeseen circumstances

Where this occurs, Wire Master Electricals will keep the customer reasonably informed and make reasonable efforts to rearrange or complete the work.

22. Completion and Customer Inspection

Customers are encouraged to inspect completed work and raise any questions or concerns as soon as reasonably possible.

Where a genuine concern relates to work carried out by Wire Master Electricals, we should be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the matter and, where appropriate, rectify an issue for which we are responsible.

23. Workmanship Concerns and Aftercare

If a customer believes there is a problem with work carried out by Wire Master Electricals, they should contact us promptly with details of the concern.

Where the issue relates to our workmanship, we will assess the matter and, where appropriate, take reasonable steps to rectify it.

This does not extend to faults arising from:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Misuse or accidental damage
  • Work altered by another person after our attendance
  • Defects in customer-supplied equipment
  • Unrelated faults elsewhere in the electrical installation

Nothing in this section affects the customer's statutory rights.

24. No Unreasonable Withholding of Payment

A genuine concern regarding one aspect of the work does not automatically justify withholding payment for all completed work.

Any undisputed amount remains payable when due.

Where the customer believes that an invoice is incorrect, the concern should be raised promptly together with a clear explanation of the amount or work being disputed.

25. Late or Refused Payment

Where an invoice remains unpaid after becoming due, Wire Master Electricals reserves the right to:

  • Issue payment reminders
  • Issue formal demands for payment
  • Suspend further non-essential work
  • Decline future bookings
  • Take appropriate lawful steps to recover outstanding sums

Where recovery action becomes necessary, the customer may also be responsible for court fees, reasonable recovery costs and any other amounts legally recoverable.

26. Complaints

If a customer is unhappy with any aspect of our service, they should contact Wire Master Electricals as soon as reasonably possible.

Please provide:

  • Your name
  • Property address
  • Description of the work
  • Details of the concern
  • Any photographs or other relevant information where appropriate

We will review the matter fairly and aim to respond within a reasonable period.

Where inspection is reasonably necessary, Wire Master Electricals should be given an opportunity to inspect the work before another contractor alters or removes the work concerned, except where immediate action is reasonably required for safety reasons.

27. Privacy and Customer Information

Wire Master Electricals may collect and use customer information reasonably required to provide its services, including:

  • Name
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Property address
  • Job details
  • Photographs supplied by the customer
  • Booking information
  • Quotation, invoice and certification information

Customer information will be handled in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.

A separate Privacy Policy may provide further information about how personal information is collected, used, retained and protected.

28. Before We Start

If anything regarding the quotation, price, proposed work, payment arrangements or these Terms & Conditions is unclear, please ask before instructing us to proceed.

We would much rather clarify everything beforehand so that both the customer and Wire Master Electricals understand what has been agreed.

29. Important Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or reduce any rights or remedies available to a customer under applicable UK consumer law.

Wire Master Electricals will provide its services with reasonable care and skill and will comply with its legal obligations to customers.

Where any provision of these Terms & Conditions conflicts with a customer's statutory consumer rights, the customer's statutory rights will take precedence.

Nothing in these terms is intended to prevent a customer from exercising any legal right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

30. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the applicable laws of England and Wales.

Nothing in this clause restricts any statutory right a consumer may have regarding where legal proceedings may properly be brought.

31. Acceptance of These Terms

By:

  • Accepting a quotation
  • Confirming a booking
  • Paying a deposit or part-payment
  • Asking Wire Master Electricals to begin work
  • Providing verbal or written authority to proceed
  • Allowing work to commence

the customer confirms acceptance of these Terms & Conditions, subject always to their statutory rights.

Important Payment Notice

Please only instruct Wire Master Electricals to proceed if you are in a position to pay for the work. Unless otherwise agreed beforehand, payment is due upon completion of the agreed works.

Depending on the size, value, duration or nature of the job, Wire Master Electricals may request a deposit, materials payment, advance payment, stage payment or reasonable part-payment before or during the works.

If you have any concerns about the quotation, scope of work, materials, payment arrangements or these Terms & Conditions, please discuss them with us before work begins.

We want everything to be clear, fair and agreed from the outset.
